    @grotug--
I was suffering with a fire nrand battle axe at DL 35, when lo and behold, an orc unique dropped the Spear of Orome. My first real artifacts, exclusive of the Phial.

and I just found a ring of +5 CON with lightning and fire immunity! Ulfang, of all folks, dropped it on DL40. It also has +1 DEX and fear immunity, cold, light and dark resistance and [6]. The Band of Estir.

not sure what AC i found but i also think around 45 max. For some reason, they always tend to have no bonuses other than AC.
i still dont know if +3 launchers exist, but i did find a -3 once, hence the suspect they do. i vaguely recall Derakon being very upset at my finding a x6 bow, so maybe thats the proof.
What's fun is finding Mithril Preservation shields [16, +48]; of course I can never wear them because I always have an artifact shield with less AC that better fits my resistance holes. They're still awe-inspiring to look at, though.

X3 launchers *do* exist and I found *two* such launchers on the *same* level! And guess what? I was playing a Mage during their experimental phase of being overpowered so I didn't even get to use the launchers! This still remains one of the most annoying great finds of all my Angband experience. Two of the best launchers I've ever seen in this game --both found on the same level... why? Why couldn't I find them as a Ranger in two separate games? I've been playing a Ranger ever since and have yet to find a launcher near their power. Though my current Ranger has found a pretty deadly combination of acid pebbles and buckland.

well, the mother of all coincidences. After years of trying,

the Long Bow of Feiglith (x3) (+11,+16) <+3>
    ------------------------------------------
    +3 shooting speed.
Cannot be harmed by acid, fire.

Min Level 39, Max Level 127, Generation chance 4, Power 217, 4.0 lbs
    Random bow of power 217.

i found a RoS +23, however in early 4.x development, i know Nick toned down the randart generation process, idk if that affected ego as well.
not sure what AC i found but i also think around 45 max. For some reason, they always tend to have no bonuses other than AC.
i still dont know if +3 launchers exist, but i did find a -3 once, hence the suspect they do. i vaguely recall Derakon being very upset at my finding a x6 bow, so maybe thats the proof.

    started a topic Record breakers?

    Record breakers?

This made me wonder how high AC bonus can actually go:

Iron Shod Boots of Irissearn [4, +47] <+4>
Found lying on the floor at 2250 feet (level 45)

    +4 intelligence.
    Provides resistance to fire.
    Provides protection from fear.
    Sustains intelligence.
Feather Falling. Gives immunity to traps.

Nice boots for HT mage, too bad I had to choose between that or boots of speed.

Which matters less after I found this:

    Ring of Speed <+18>
Found lying on the floor in a vault at 3000 feet (level 60)

+18?? No wonder the level was x-9...

Boots that protect like a plate mail and all the speed I need from single item. Not bad.
Working...
