I keep leaving important things on the ground....

I leave my sweater at work. I get it the next day. I leave my jacket in a restaurant. I call the restaurant and it's still there. I leave my mithril shots of slay undead {+17} on the ground outside my home somehow...do any of the shopkeepers pick them up for me and put 'em in the store? I mean, I'd be happy to buy them back again. But having them gone forever is quite sad.

edit: I record all my games these days. I had left them on the ground in the last dungeon level before returning to town and never picked them up. I double/triple check the items in the list of items on the level, but honestly it's so long I end up just skimming it; plus I'm looking for things I haven't inspected. /sigh

edit: took me awhile to figure out what happened: I created some arrows, dropped my basic magic book, picked up the arrows and then the game did it's weird inventory bug thing and dropped a stack of ammo in my inventory, which happened to be the iron shots of slay undead; but it happened so quickly I never noticed. I did this while I was in ?recall. I did check the item list of things on the ground and you can plainly see the mithril shots of slay undead in the item list. Alas, I did not notice.

Now, now, you only have to ask at the start (the birth option for persistent levels), and they'll kindly leave things on the floor where you dropped them - unless a gelatinous cube happens to pick them up or an earth elemental smashes them before you get back.
