Would you use this cloak?

I'm having mixed feelings on whether to throw this away or try to uncurse/enchant it. How bad is the experience drain? Can hold life stop it?:

Yes, i would. But only after removing the curse or getting fire immunity. Relying on temp resist alone is too dangerous after DL 35 or so. You also need hold life. Drain EXP used to be harmless, back in the day. No longer.

In other words, dont use it but store it and see if it comes in handy for the end fight later on.

The "Drains Experience" looks like a randomly generated morgul weapon effect. I thought one couldn't uncurse those and that hold life didn't help, but I may well be wrong. Could someone confirm?

That's basically right - Morgul weapons, Nazgul bows and some artifacts have it. Hold life doesn't help, but it is at least temporary drain (which IIRC used not to be the case).

Thanks, Nick. I had no idea the drain was temporary these days, as I have been avoiding all such gear for ages. Just to check, by "temporary" do you mean that it goes away with time/resting, or that it can be cured with a Restore Experience potion? (If the former, could the text be changed to reflect that, e.g. something like "Temporarily drains experience"?)

Yikes. The drain is pretty extreme--I thought HL would help for sure. I used to use nazgul bows for SI, but no longer.

It's like regular experience drain from monster attacks, so requires restoration by potion or whatever.
