So I just finally won with a half-orc blackguard completing my flight of wins in each character class. It still leaves me two races which I haven't won with (half-elf and elf) so I decided to play an elven ranger because I haven't played a ranger in a long while. I'm playing base 4.2.2 fwiw.
This character has been incredibly lucky. Look at these drops and where I found them:
b) a Long Bow of Power (x3) (+8,+23)
Found lying on the floor at 550 feet (level 11)
Keep in mind, I'm an Elven ranger I went. I went from a sling (the ammo was way better) to this howitzer.
b) a Book of Nature Magics [Nature Craft]
Cannot be harmed by Fire.
(Found lying on the floor at 1150 feet)
Between the two (and a staff of Detect Invisible) I create these:
) 3 Arrows (1d4) (+3,+6)
Combat info:
When fired, hits targets up to 120 feet away.
Average damage/round: 171.7.
But it isn't just that:
i) a Wicker Shield of Resistance [2,+4]
Dropped by a gallant at 250 feet (level 5)
Provides resistance to Acid, Lightning, Fire, Cold.
Cannot be harmed by Acid.
j) a Steel Helm of Telepathy [9,+3]
Dropped by Angamaitë of Umbar at 1200 feet (level 24)
Grants telepathy.
Now I still haven't found free action or resist confusion or any speed/high resists, (or any artifacts at all for that matter) so I'm still quite vulnerable, but did someone tweak the formula for good items in 4.2.2. Or is the game just playing with me until Wiruin strikes when I set foot on 1500...
