Oh, RNG! How COULD you? Ok, so my mage goes through all his various adventures and heads back to Angband. He recall to 85, then goes down the stairs to 86. There on 86, he walks into a room and is attacked by a Nightcrawler, which summons a Dreadmaster. My mage destroys them both and the Dreadmaster drops a book. Looking at it, I suddenly realize its an Armageddon Tome. And that dark green book just sitting on the ground, minding its own business? Yup. Nature's Wrath. There were the two books, the search for which was the whole reason for everything, just sitting there on the ground (more or less).
