Shoe Event Horizon
It's just like Douglas Adams predicted. Nearly every shop in town is a shoe shop, all selling shoddy shoes. Not a pair of speed boots to be seen. No doubt the collapse of civilisation and the evolution of the townspeople into birdpeople is only round the corner. :P
