Broken AI Standing here, Nidhogg's AI broke and he was just moving left to right, unable to do anything. I had a similar thing fighting Glaurung, if it comes up more I can take further screenshots. They seem to bug out wondering if they should close in to attack, or back off to blast you. On 2.2.2015 14:26 debo wrote: Although if I'd lived for thousands of years maybe I'd be indecisive too! So they will approach only up to a point and then pelt you with distance attacks ... or at least that is the theory (The min distance aspect is so they pursue you to gain LoS ... This is in contrast to the statue-like shoot only AI). I've had Brand pick up this AI strategy and he was very deadly with it: Far more deadly than he normally is. Is Nidhogg not breathing on you? If you try to rush him, does he not back up to keep at a safe distance? Perhaps this AI is more meaningful against melee characters (especially those that ignore shooting) rather than a Blue Mage who has strong distance options (and would prefer to avoid Nidhogg's melee anyway). Nidhogg actually won't breathe often (just 1 in 5 or 20%) and his AI only adds 5% to those odds. Probably I should change that a little. How many turns did you take to kill him? On 2.2.2015 15:17 chris wrote: Also, look at it this way. If he wasn't breathing in this AI, he wouldn't have with normal AI either, so his behavior would have been to mindless march towards you. I assume you would employ shoot and scoot tactics, so the effect would have been the same (viz. you killed him while he did nothing). Seen 757 times. |
