Got the permanent curse blues? Hi Angband fans: Did you receive wonderful artifacts such as The Massive Iron crown of Morgoth, but the curses annoy you! Well, you need not worry anymore. Use the following tip to remove these curses permanently (this is for Windows only). It works for any detrimental attribute! Caution: if you make a mistake, your character file won't load so be careful and make a back-up copy! First; locate the artifact.txt file. Second; scroll down to the artifact you want to remove the curse from (the massive Iron crown for example). Third; do one of the following: on the lines that have a flag (F) with any type of curse, delete the entire corresponding phrase within the {|} symbols and the one {|} symbol after that phrase: or do the same as above but enter a new phrase keeping those symbols and saving when you're done ( a new one like hold life for example). Finally; locate the artifact.raw file and delete it. You can get more inspiration inside the artifact.txt file. I can't take credit for the inventing this, however I would like credit for finding and having courage to post it. So when you share this please give some credit to me. This would have been here sooner, but I was busy with other responsibilities [you can understand :-)] . During that time I also considered that a posting like this could be viewed as cheating and certain people might have harsh responses. I finally decided any of that would be beside the point. When one goes to the .txt file to make the modifications, you're told about them anyway by creators of the program. So please don't spew venom at me! If you need help, feel free to E-mail me! Finally, I want to tell Matthias thanks for being patient! Enjoy this hint and help spread the word! Posted on 21.3.2007 20:07 Comments? Shoot, UnAngband has put as much stuff as it can in edit files. (items, magic effects, etc.) Comics about them exist also, dating as far back as late 2001. angband.oook.cz/comic/strip.php?view=6 Oh, and editing these files is cheating, but no one cares if you've already killed Morgoth. It's cheating of course buy yeah noone cares if you cheat or not, Morgoth dead or not as you're only cheating yourself anyway. I have high respect for you willing to invest the time to write such an in detail explanation though On 22.3.2007 09:24 lahtonen.sampsa@suomi24.fi wrote: Can't say I have particularly high respect for anyone writing such a detailed explanation... it's not as though it wasn't all explained in the edit files and anyway anyone with half an ounce of brains could work it all out even without that. It's as though he thinks we're all idiots... On 22.3.2007 15:23 Matthias wrote: Yes, that's what I was trying to say between the lines :) Seen 2794 times. |
