Sniper class has some really cool techniques. E.g. branded shots with normal ammo, concentration ranged multiplier, piercing shots that can take out a row of monsters at once.

Some Xang +es:
- Ego item shops ;D + large variety of ego items
- 'forged' ego items + town service to do it for you - they grant a few more beneficial effects
- Quick statgain (i think stat potions drop more often)
- No mushrooms - didn't notice until yesterday, but I'm not missing them

Some -es:
- Seems a bit easy so far (otoh, Sniper is really strong I get the impression; plus, lately almost exclusively played Heng/Entro so that could be it too)
- Lacking monster descriptions for some --especially new monsters. It would really add flavour.
- A bit the same for two new quests, 'orcish mine' and 'underground ruins'
- Minor font issues

Anyway, the items you mention are 'forged' ego items I mentioned a few posts back. They can be found in the dungeon or forged in town from a plain ego item.
In my opinion, they don't make the game much easier. But by granting some random additiional (often resistance) bonuses, they help speed up the game a little bit. Besides resistances they also sometimes have an activation, small a stat bonus, or (on weapons) slays/brands.
A nice example may be that Amulet of Slow Digestion 'golael' that my char has worn for quite a while (though i'll probably replace it now that the speed bonus is becoming too small to justify the benefits of other amulets).
