Nothing terribly interesting so far. Still trying to speed dive with a giant necromancer. Good with the hitpoints (good con and good hitdice), no int penalty, genocide will help a lot when things get going. My start seems pretty typical so far. I've recently noticed that confused uniques are a lot easier to kill, so I've been carrying these scrolls of monster confusion. !CSW are sufficient for now, and offense is ok, but unfortunately, Wormy's drop was awful (for a wrestler, that is).

I kind of like Quickband's (NPP's?) weapons of elements and weapons of slaying, which can possibly have several brands or several slays. It just seems like slay troll (for instance) really hardly counts as an ego-weapon in my book. Orcs are common enough (and you kill enough of them), undead are omnipresent. Demons are less common, but evil, animals, and dragons are common, but trolls and giants (and a lesser extent demons) really don't deseve their own ego types, in my own mind.

Hmmm... usually I'm pretty linear in time up to about now (dlevel = Mturns/100), but I"m speeding up for once. Of course, it appears that this is at the cost of power, which may not be useful. Of course, you expect to level up faster deeper, but not if you're avoiding 95% of the monsters....

I'm really really impressed I managed to off Bolg. He's fast and he hits *hard* for his depth. I used some scrolls of monster confusion (took 3), used a first (and therefore potent) wand of slow monster (normally it's a pain to slow him), and offed him in melee combat. His drop was decent -- potion of constitution, but I'm still really shy on actual equiment (helm of beauty is pretty bad...).

Had a pretty close call just beforehand. A energy vortex shot a thingie of energy and dealt like half my hp (was already wounded). Chose to finish meleeing him, and got lucky (he died).

I really need some resistances soon. I don't know if I'm the only one, but I think I generally see artifact armors with all the resistances (arvedui, usually) before I find resistance armor. I generally don't find elvenkind armor until the late-game. Same with westernesse and holy avenger and defender. I think I generally see 1 dragon helm with a winner (non-crafted). Maybe drop freq should be tweaked...

Anyhoo, I think if i don't find some good equipment soon, I'll be toast. Well, I can try to survive for the time being...

Well, I've definately been speeding up this time round. I don't know if there's a particular reason, but I'm moving faster. Maybe I'm being more picky about fights. Maybe Cammithrim and the White DSM are helping enough with crowds that I'm not having as many issues.

On another note, I found doomspells! from erinyes (& cluster of rooms) which is way out of depth. Not only have I not found Mysteries of Angmar, I haven't found any other dungeon books. Nor can I use it yet... Strange...

Genocide is close, but I'm still lacking in the basic resistance category. Probably have enough hit points to take on a full breath from a mature dragon right now, but I'd rather not. They'll be showing up soon. So far I've tried to kill mostly 'o', 'O', and 'T' for XP. Things with basically only melee, I can handle (for now). They have a few drops, and are easy enough to kill singly or in groups. Undead are also not too bad, but I try to avoid xp drainers.
