Gaveronians tend to have good drops, and the drop quality is unaffected by the level feeling - in fact, level feelings usually tell you "nasty monsters" rather than "good gear".

And I'd wear Thalkettoth, if I were you...

When you get the chance, it's worth setting a recall point in a small town and ordering stuff at the Merchant - *ID* when you've found one, potions of speed, etc.
