btw the royal assassin was way OOD but I was in the process of clearing some type of checkerboard vault (no type of detection ). Lust for treasure must have clouded my judgement....

I'm just about to the same clevel and dlevel where you died, and lack of detection is clearly my biggest problem. Had a horrible quest for German Snipers that I ended up failing. Wandered around, waiting for something to start shooting at me to find it and even then I didn't know where it was, just that it had LOS on me.
