This was by far the safest I've ever felt during the descent - this build can laugh in the face of greater cold drakes, and I got a lot of my late game exp by bullying them off their hordes with Elbereth, locking them in a hallway with Thresholds, and then IDing the ego items they were sitting on - but it fell apart completely in the throne room, where I was unable to even knock the Crown ajar. I should have gone with Lorien over Mastery, I think, and I'll try that next time. Mastery is nice against darting H and ancient serpents, public enemies no.s 1 and 2 of this build, but even with 32 song it wasn't pulling its weight against V. I wonder if lighter armor might also make more sense - high protection was a call I made for survivability in the dicier early game and never really changed from, but it might not make sense once I can rely on my song to not get hit. The build feels very winnable overall, though, and I've got high hopes for next run.

I also spent a very enjoyable 4000-ish turns painstakingly picking open a vault (the Cat Fortress) - luring or chasing dangerous enemies out into side rooms where I could seal them in while leaving myself safely warded corridors to double back and get to the loot. I had a lot of fun very carefully outwitting the ancient serpent AI, since I couldn't scare them off and definitely couldn't kill them, so I had to be clever about getting them out of the way. I also had the tools to make a couple new corridors (I had both ?blasting and mattock of belegost + !strength) which took a lot of careful thought - it let me avoid passages I'd already sealed things in and let me enter rooms in the right direction to scare things toward the stairs rather than away, but the new corridors couldn't be warded.

Probably not efficient from a turncount perspective but 100% worth it just for the experience. Playing almost exclusively by controlling your environment is very different from typical Sil gameplay, and I recommend everyone try opening a major vault this way at least once. It's up there with the old throne room song of slaying brawl in Memorable Sil Experiences for me.
