Playing without loremaster or a loremaster artefact might actually be optimal...now that I think about it. XP is tight as it is. And it's not a bad idea to get it as soon as I can. No guarantee of a 3 use forge after all (and it turns out RNG gave me a 2 use forge anyways). That, however, leaves the question of what I would make if not a loremaster artefact if I do see a 3 use forge.

This dwarf is surprisingly buff by 400 feet. +13 to-hit, +15 evasion? I couldn't wish for more even on an elf by this point in the game. Decent turn count too. I think that fiesta on 350 feet shocked my dwarf into overdrive or something. Made a gamble to stay on the level and take on Orcobol instead of going back up the stairs and it paid off?

Was too scared to use-ID the unidentified gauntlets, so it turns out I have 2 sets of gloves/gauntlets of the forge now.

Gonna send off a few more dwarves to 400-500 feet to try to get a rhythm going before trying to delve deeper.

This is actually the first time I've found Tomb of the King I think.

And...I realized crowd fighting is quite good...even before cat depth. I think it saved me life here.
