Been finding 2 handed swords really good for non-smiths, since there's no reliable way to generate a shield of deflection. I think the extra damage is far superior than the protection you could get out of a [0,1d3] shield or a [-2,1d6] shield.

Yea, it's not bad, especially on a smithing character or on a character in need of fire resistance. I just never seem to have much use out of war hammers in general because no race starts with hammer affinity and I never have enough strength to capitalize on the 4 damage dice.
