He is totally horrible foe and there are not many uniques in the whole game that are nastier than him. You need almost 500 HP and +20 speed to be safe for ONE TURN, when this guy is at your sight.

But as you said, it was a lesson learned. You got a good attitude there and sooner or later you'll be celebrating your first victory.
