I feel like a lot of O success depends on some rather dumb things, even leaving aside early boots of speed or other powerful equipment. My character got a bunch of healing potions early from the black market, because large stacks spawned twice early on (I could never afford the whole stack, but I always had healing available). There is no other feasible way you can get a reasonable amount of healing early, since they appear alone and are rare, and it made a huge difference in terms of the risks I could afford to take, and as such my progression.

Despite the many good features of O, I think V is a better balanced game currently; I'm going to try and enhance V with the good features of O/FA, rather than try to recreate them.
