Carol bears the gloves of Rumil, thus ameliorating the two most major (i.e. annoying) problems of previous attempts; running out of Voice, and never having quite enough XP.

Posted the dump upon finding the Ring of Barahir (little use on this build; the times I'd use Staying I'd also have run out of voice for Lorien).

Note: Carol X. Calm is the first of her middle name.

(P.S. Now if only I had an Arc Blade...)

Found a cursed longsword; for some reason, I'd thought "it's not dice boosted so it can't be Fury" but reflexively acted as though that was "so it can't be cursed", and so despite having Amrod I didn't get to use it from 400ft onward.


I also almost ran out of light a couple times, but having plenty didn't save me from Shadows; it turns out they are basically unstoppable on a character with low Melee and no heavy weapon.

The correct response was presumably to skip any floor they noticed me on, but that didn't even occur to me since I kept expecting the very next hit would destroy the Shadow.

If you can see them reliably, which you probably can't then the bow is better. Partially because they can't hit you and partially because of halved evasion. They move semi-eratically.

(I probably would have left it for another day at least twice, but I started a theme of at least one decent character for each day of the comp, and it would be a shame to break it just to win.)
