Uhm, died because I wasn't really paying attention. A sapphire serpent snuck up on me and breathed on me when I was low HP after a fight with a Ringrauko. One shot from like 1/3 HP. Reason I didn't have rCold was because there wasn't any ,restoration or !con at the last forge. So I'd have to walk around with -1 con drain if I wanted it.

But yea, had all consumables available. Just didn't notice the serpent in time to heal up.

This was a test run anyways. Tried a different build order involving early armour instead of jewelry and then getting song of freedom. Honestly like it a lot. After my last Belegost game, I've really come to appreciate heavy protection, especially early game. And song of freedom was useful for those maze vaults and opening chests, although I didn't really get much useful out of chests this game. Just a [-1,1d3] helmet and a [+2] cloak iirc.

Also used _earthquakes to stun Duruin, and it made him a lot more manageable.

Honestly, whenever I get to rauko territory, I just start losing my mind. It feels like every unique is designed to be way stronger than you, so you either have to leave the level or waste consumables. If you want to kill the balrog, then rFire is the minimum. Also pray that he isn't 200 feet out of depth. And that you find a Nargothrond weapon ahead of time.

Duruin, least the the Balrogs, has 4d4 protection, and hits with +18 to-hit for 2d12. If the run is going particularly well, maybe I'll have 18 evasion and enough to-hit to penetrate his protection.
