What a mess of a game. Turn-count wise I'm doing really well. I was doing even better before, then I started losing my mind because of inventory and started running back and forth across the level (e.g. dropped spear of doriath then met my first shadow spider, trekked across the map to get it, or when I got strength drained to 0 (somewhat on purpose because I knew there was a good chance I had !str or ,restoration in my inventory), was gorged, waited until I was full before trying herbs, went back to grab all the stuff I dropped because I couldn't carry all that weight at 0 str).

What a clownfiesta.

At a certain point I wasn't even sure if I was a smith anymore. That false floor on 300 feet really threw me off. I had to take all my pooled experience and dump it into combat stats to survive the shafting.

Once I found myself in a surplus of XP once again and comfortably trudging through 400+ feet, I decided to throw some XP back into smithing since I figured it was about time for a forge to show up. Only...it was 2 use. I decided to make brilliance helmet this game instead because I figured I could take a bit of stat drain and shadow spiders and whispering shadows were more of a threat to me than creeping horrors or wights (already had free action from my final rest longsword).

Inventory problems is just killing me right now, which was why I stopped. Already ditched some un-identified rings, staves, and amulets. I'd like to make room for that [+4] shadow cloak since I have such an abundance of light (3 from lantern, 1 from helmet, lots of slay weapons, and planning on getting inner light and keen senses too). There's also a mattock and an emerald potion nearby.

I really don't want to just blindly go through my potion stack and waste a !con, !dex, or !grace. Not sure what to do here. Zzzz

I don't think I'm at danger of dying for now...just took care of an out of depth Gilim (150 feet out of depth) and Ulfang (100 feet out of depth) without much of a sweat. Gilim gave me a bit of a scare only because he brought a pack of werewolves with him (who were also 150 feet out of depth...).

I mostly just want keen senses soon for sulrauko. And a source of rFire and rFear would be nice before balrog territory. I think I have a nargothrond longsword as well. Would know for sure once that 3 use forge shows up (if it's 2 use again I might just give up on loremaster altogether...). I just hope I don't get most of my inventory destroyed by drakes and balrogs soon. Almost nothing is acid-immune.

LOL! Another 2 use forge. Well then.

Second artefact of this game turned out to be Narsil. I feel a tad silly making that Dwarf Mask of Defiance now. Might get opportunist or momentum soon...

I have more light than I'll ever know what to do with. Belegwath, watch out! I'm coming for you. You can't hide in the dark this time around.

A bit strange but free action and rcold are both on my weapon (different ones too). That's gonna give me trouble once I meet cold drakes.

Actually, just realized two-weapon fighting would be perfect. Just have to watch out for archers a bit more so than usual. I can then dual wield my Nargothrond longsword with Narsil.

Contemplating going for song of sharpness or opportunist first afterwards. Opportunist would solve most of the archer problem, and offer some stealth to boot. Song of sharpness would take care of kemenraukos, serpents, and grotesques, all of which are going to show up soon.

I can delay inner light too if I take advantage of Irime's unique passive. Belegwath and dark serpents and raukos are probably not an issue at this point and I'm overthinking it. Besides, faenorian lamp of brightness coming up soon, the second I get my hands on some mithril.

I wonder if I can throw spears or shoot Umuiyan to death. I have a good bow. Only thing is dwarves suck at archery. I could potentially make another ring of accuracy? He always gives me a lot of trouble. Is there a way to proc zone of control on him?

Use !quick then flank + zoc him to death

On 12.4.2017 16:16 protopulse wrote:
Oh, !quick is enough to match his speed? That sounds pretty straightforward then. Not sure how great speed, !quickness, and sprinting compare. Will have to do a test in debug mode sometime.

On 12.4.2017 19:17 seraph wrote:
there are only four speeds. default player speed is 2 and is capped at 3. great speed, !quickness and sprinting all boast your speed by 1. Umuiyan is 3, "moves quickly". some monsters are 4 "moves very quickly".

Oh alright. I didn't realized player speed was capped. I guess once you get great speed you can dump all your !quickness then.
