there's really a pronounced difference between naugrim and feanor, then again strength doesn't matter a ton but 2543 vs. 3243 is a huge difference.

it's funny what the gameplay consequences of naugrim and smithing are: since they have awful dexterity, and melee/evasion is a proxy for character level, if you try to play a dwarven smith, you are playing a character that runs an XP deficit while already being "low level". At least Edain get good affinities or 3 dex (haleth).

To not be too behind on melee/evasion you need rings of accuracy and evasion. Maybe I should have taken 2 accuracy, being Norgrod, but this amounts to 1500 XP for 4 smithing abilities, another 2800 in smithing, 200 for gloves of the forge, and 1000 for a loremaster + song of freedom crown. and you still need some perception to not fall through every false floor in the dungeon, walking around singing song of freedom has its downsides. meanwhile even an edain can afford to spend the XP for loremaster.
