Scummed for Ringil to kick off this Christmas character. I felt really strong going into midgame. Pumped melee and evasion to start out. Then perception for lorekeeper and loremaster (and to lessen the chance of dropping into false floors, acid, and flash traps). A little bit of song in case I needed song of the trees when Ringil and my light source weren't enough to illuminate bats, shadow spiders, or whispering shadows. I ended up getting it anyways. Figured the 500 experience investment was worth it. Better safe than sorry. Plus I was relying on my evasion so having it halved due to enemies attacking from the dark would spell an easy death. I died before due to werewolves, so I made an effort this game to pump up will for poison resist. Honestly, everything looked good. And then I met my first balrog on 500 ft, Duruin, which I thought wouldn't be too bad considering I had +15 to-hit and +18 evasion. And he was vulnerable to cold...Still a little astonished I died. I was eating healing herbs and quaffing orcish liquors (which I had 10 of), and he managed to outdamage me through the healing. I didn't even consider the possibly that he could straight up outdamage my healing. But I guess 2d12 damage + extra dice due to me having no rFire and only 6-10 AC was a little too much. Not even sure how I could have taken him on unless I used my potion of elemental resist. Maybe I should have just ran the other way? And maybe I just overestimated Ringil? RIP.

Back to scumming for characters I suppose.

Presumably !quickness + !element resistance would of got him, though his still critical hitting you, it'd hurt. Doubt he'd be worth the consumables. His drop probably would be less then the cost.

Yea, I got him pretty low, which was why I stuck around. Also made sure there was no threat of enemies coming up behind me. Should have paid more close attention to the rolls window.

Well, managed to find Ringil again. It's the only mithril longsword artefact I've seen thus far. Celeg Aithorn refuses to spawn even after countless Christmas presents opened. I'll have to wait until next Christmas to try to find it I suppose.

But Ringil carried me to 750 ft for the first time! So it's not all bad. Much more meticulous playing from me as well as better RNG in general. I'm swimming in more goodies than I'll ever know what to do with. Nonstop inventory troubles since 650 ft. +1 strength ring. +1 damage ring. Free action ring. rFire ring. +2 accuracy ring. 1d2 protection ring. _Treasures, _Slumber, _Light, _Earthquake, _Foes! Shadow Cloak of Luthien. Greaves of the Helcaraxe. And lots of !Heal, !Strength, and !Orcish Liquor!

Got (constitution) to boost up my HP a bit and found a +1 constitution mail corlset. Also Rauko-Bane since I got screwed over by Duruin in my last run.

When things go bad, they go bad fast. So I'm gonna leave my dump here for now.

Had a few frights on 700 ft. One where a cat warrior exchanged places with me and dumped in the middle of a Umuiyan's party. Probably played that suboptimally, but instead of eating herb of rage or using staff of earthquake immediately, I chose to wait a turn and see if I can carve my way out the old fashioned way. Got lucky on rolls maybe, cause I didn't have (crowd fighting).

Also found a deathblade but couldn't dent it and it kept following me around half the map (it couldn't hurt me but I couldn't hurt it either).

P.S. False floors suck!

Oh, it overwrote my old dump file. I should have clicked on the protection from overwritten option. Didn't notice that earlier. Oh well.
