Max HPs? Wounds only occur when you're reduced to negative hps. You can miss it as the "adrenaline rush" restores your hps to 1/2 max. So currently you've "died" twice out of 2-4 lives.

Pretty sure it means you have a 2 in 3 chance of dying if you fall below 0 hits again. 2 more wounds will definitely kill you.
