Got 1 to town. Surprisingly the dwarf rogues pretty good. The resist blindness + fast move in rubble helped a fair bit. Used my 1st destruction scroll to guarantee a safe spot to rest till night. Found the dragon scale mail on the hill. The tele-other wand saved me quite a few times.

The dragon scale mail is very useful, as are the wands of teleport away and the extra staff of detection. But in another respect you were unlucky. You still have no offense. You could wait for a good wand or buy a ranged weapon and ammo and look for a high level mold.
