The approach seems weaker, atleast when still using novice mage corpse. 4d4 damage from magic missile with speed +0 doesn't really compare to what you can do with +10 speed melee with any form. And the speed also allows survivability and kiting monsters. Scrolls of phase door are really required to kill anything that doesn't die in a few missiles. But oh well, going caster this time.

Maybe I'll get some str too though, just to have a backup plan and not be too overencumbered all the time.. Especially since there aren't too many exciting caster corpses early on from what I've seen.

Decided to go with a speedy form for the orc boss.. Dunno if it was any easier. Also I guess shamans use wisdom to cast spells cause I had a worse fail rate with that form. Or maybe it has less +int? Dunno.

Cave spider is clearly the best early form. You can see in the darkness and you get detect monsters ability..

It's definitely NOT the Auto-ID light source. You get an Elven Cloak every time you finish the Orc camp quest.
