Ignore the name. This guy doesn't have a real name right now.

This is my first time making it to 950', so I'm putting this up to get ya'lls advice on how I should proceed, because I am very nervous. I'm planning on reloading and repeating 950' as often as I can before Min Depth is 1000', and to conserve my EXP while I wait to see what kind of stuff I can get. I'm hoping to be able to keep using my lovely new sword while avoiding having to take "Mind Over Body" (2500 exp).

The only thing I know to do so far is to follow the advice of the player whose build I'm copying, and to start changing out some of my equipment so I can get some melee accuracy back (the Kite Shield and Greaves look like prime candidates).

Unless you get song of trees, I'm pretty sure you're going to die to gwathrauko if you farm 950' for too long. Your light radius is atrocious.

Why are you wearing a +0 amulet of Con instead of a +1 gra, +1 light blessed realm? The only thing I think of is that you're scared of vampires.

You don't have _treasures, so scumming 950' isn't going to be super helpful.

Your shield is fine, it's just (-1). Your helm is the worst thing you're wearing, imo.

It's unfortunate that your consumable count is so low, but I would still swap the ring of strength for the ring of fire resistance, put on the helm of defiance, and just go win already. This would avoid problems with (a) low light and (b) hunger.

You probably won't be able to kill Morgoth without any !quick or !con (!str would also help), but if you sing slaying in the middle of the throne room, you should cause enough carnage quickly enough to get a sil and get out.

Also, if you use your _foes when you get into the throne room and don't see glaurung or ancalagon there, you might as well drop all your elemental resistance altogether and use your rings to stat up. +1 dex and +1 str would be good, rather than the 1d2 prot imo

Hmmn, I guess you have keen senses and inner light. With the "blessed realm you could probably do OK (that's essentially 5 effective light)

Yeah, the con amulet was because I absolutely did not want to get con drained by vampires. I switch to Blessed Realm whenever they aren't around. Keeping the other amulet around, though I don't know if I'll ever actually use it. Probably not.

So, since I have Blessed Realm and Inner Light, should I do 950' at least once through to see if there's anything good, like consumables? Maybe scumming it if I find a staff of treasures? Or should I just go to straight to the throne room? I have yet to do any exploration of 950', though I did throw out one Staff of Foes charge. Believe I saw a Balrog on the other side of the map.

I recently found and put on the Dwarf Mask (950') because I wanted a second source of fire resistance. Since I heard two fire resistances was good, and I like my rings. Though if no scary dragons are popping up, Defiance is much nicer.

On 24.11.2014 02:22 debo wrote:
The dwarf mask is ok for exploration so you can keep your rings free and still have rF+ in case you get surprise-breathed-on by a red D, which is definitely possible if you are trawling 950'.

If you're confident in handling stuff at this depth, scumming 950' is always a decent idea. Just don't get cocky :)

I just noticed you don't have any ,rage, which will make the throne room a lot worse for this build. Having 2-3 of those would be really handy.

On 24.11.2014 02:35 j_greg_m@comcast.net wrote:
Hrn....I'm very leaning towards scumming 950' a bit then. I'd like to find some decent stuff and hopefully kill Morgoth. Though since you say it'll be hard, I won't be dead set on doing so; just scum to find some decent stuff and better prepare for the throne room.

On 24.11.2014 02:37 debo wrote:
If you manage to find a couple !quick, !con, and !rage, killing Morgoth will be pretty easy (relatively speaking). However, consumables are quite a bit rarer now, so there aren't any guarantees -- especially if you find yourself using them to stay alive through unfamiliar situations at 950'.

Hopefully this thing updates correctly. Lost the Staff of Foes because I got cocky against an Ancient Ruby Serpent. Unless you see another glaring flaw in my plan, I'm just gonna scum a teeny bit more in hopes of squeezing out some more potions, then go fight Morgoth. Anything specific I should put the EXP too?

How much would whirlwind attack cost?

Thanks to needing to buy Power/Finesse for Follow-Through first, it would cost 6000.

Got killed cause I got cocky against an Ancient Amethyst Serpent. Got killed about two weeks ago, and I don't know how to recover that old log to update this.
