So I got Keen Senses and Disguise at the start, Listen at 100', and then just pumped stealth and dove hard until I got Vanish.

I don't want to play a pacifist (and besides, I've killed a couple dozen weak enemies anyway), so now I'm wondering what to do next. What should I build, should I climb back up a few floors now? I guess a stealthy archer with Focused Attack and Concentration would be the most logical choice, especially with those +3 arrows, but I'm a little nervous about it because I don't play any sort of archer that often. If I do that, how much evasion should I get, and how important is Sprint?

Probably in the territory where I should get a few Will points too.

I find sprinting really useful, reduces bumping risk in long corridors (which is one of the main causes of archer death in my games), allows you to get distance for vanishing or additional shots. Just pick your targets carefully (and maybe take a longbow until you have a better archery skill) - it is easy to waste a lot of arrows and time on shooting down a few harmless orcs/easterlings. In many ways giants, insects, the slower spiders in greater depth are better targets for an archer.

Okay - so what floor should I work in? Should I dive more, move back up for awhile, or just keep moving down at a slower pace?

No fear, just move on and pick your fights carefully.

Feel like I'm a bit behind the curve on XP (I went down a chasm and didn't go back up), but this is still the most successful character I've ever had. I just forged a longbow because the shorty wasn't cutting it. Had a close call against a Ringraukar, but made it out.

I'm starting to get worried about light because I'm on my last torch, but I can probably manage with Listen if I don't find something else.

If you can pick of a few easterlings they generally carry torches. Using listen in the dark is a good way to fall down a chasm.

You probably used stealth mode quite often (uses more light per move). Put the torch down while walking illuminated areas if you are desperate.

I wouldn't wear gear for -3 accuracy and -2 stealth penalty that lightly with a hunter.

I was wielding the shield because I equipped as an emergency measure for the Ringrauko that I narrowly escaped from - I removed it not long after the upload. Are -1/1d1 gauntlets worth using? I can never decide whether I should or not.

Anyway, I made a stupid mistake and died. Oh well. It was a fun run and I learned a lot.
