22,997 800 ft Made a Bloodstone Ring of Warmth 0.1 lb

23,668 850 ft Found The Pair of Greaves of Orodreth
24,379 850 ft Hopefully I got everything important.
24,380 900 ft Revelations and treasures.
24,381 900 ft Why does this game have to have nearly twice as many
24,381 900 ft forges scattered about as my actual smith game?
24,381 900 ft I'd like to think it's the usual bias, but then,
24,381 900 ft I actually count, and there are three more so far.
24,381 900 ft I should run a bunch of games sometime and see if
24,381 900 ft there's some correspondence to turns or something.
 24,381 900 ft ("double" PX )
24,441 900 ft (Then I spend several turns uselessly swapping because
24,441 900 ft I've forgotten in interface in those long minutes.)
24,466 900 ft (Song of Staying)
 24,897 900 ft Entered Gothmog's hall
24,903 900 ft Found The Shortbow 'Death's Sting'
24,918 900 ft Fell through a false floor
24,918 950 ft Drat; I'm pretty sure there was an artifact or two there
24,936 950 ft Found The Cloak of Thingol (from 900 ft)
24,936 950 ft So at least I got one of them.
25,045 950 ft (Song of Sharpness)
25,069 950 ft I was able to take down a nameless thing shortly, so
25,069 950 ft this says good things about Morgoth's euthanization.
25,420 950 ft Encountered Draugluin, Sire of Werewolves
25,443 950 ft You've caused me a lot of trouble over these nights.

28,773 950 ft Entered the Chambers of Thu
28,780 950 ft Great fire-drake desc "claws might do not distinguish".
29,477 950 ft Encountered Dagorhir, the Elfbane
 29,480 950 ft Dag-o-here is it? Hello.
29,482 950 ft Slew Dagorhir, the Elfbane
 29,483 950 ft Goodbye.
29,487 950 ft Found The Amulet of Tinfang Gelion
29,693 950 ft Encountered Shelob, Spider of Darkness
29,714 950 ft Slew Shelob, Spider of Darkness
29,879 950 ft (Two more forges this floor, by the way.)
30,139 950 ft Found The Dwarf Mask of the Dwarrowdelf
30,147 950 ft Strength in adversity isn't very good.
 30,259 950 ft I've lost track of what I've checked and what I haven't.
 30,454 950 ft (Flanking)
30,546 950 ft Flanking is actually sorta good; still has the same
30,546 950 ft problem as Whirlwind Attack though.
30,546 950 ft Well, ok, it's probably better than Whirlwind,
30,546 950 ft but it's the same /kind/ of problem.
30,694 950 ft I wonder if the floor caves in after too long or I just
30,694 950 ft keep losing more score.
 30,929 950 ft Made a Jet Ring of Dexterity <+1> 0.1 lb
31,005 950 ft Made an Ivory Horn of Warning 1.0 lb
31,085 950 ft Made an Obsidian Amulet of Haunted Dreams 0.1 lb
31,188 950 ft Made a Silver Amulet of Preservation 0.1 lb
31,189 950 ft Gut says this is stupid, but for some reason I'm doing
 31,189 950 ft it anyway.
 31,561 950 ft I'm procrastinating because I feel doomed.
31,784 950 ft Let's see our welcoming party.
 31,784 1,000 ft Entered Morgoth's throne room
31,823 1,000 ft Encountered Lungorthin, Lord of Balrogs
31,868 1,000 ft Destroyed Lungorthin, Lord of Balrogs
31,919 1,000 ft Clearing out various guards.
31,960 1,000 ft (Going to sleep or else now. 23:50 not health.)

Going far too slow as usual, but this time I have very good artifact/item haul; I'll probably use _Treasures once this fight is over and hopefully find more.

Also, normally I would wait till win or death for a dump, but apparently taptap wanted to take a look at this mess.

If there's any chance new players look at these games for "advice", I should probably put in the disclaimer that I've lost track of how many times I've died trying "Beren", with a minimum around 35 and a max around 120. I really doubt this is in the best three ways of playing this save, but I'm being obsessive and want to figure out how to kill Morgoth with it, his previous durability in legend be damned.

I would not worry about time, last Edain competition saw only two chars getting out alive - and this one is arguably harder.

(I guess this will be appended to the previous comments? Ok.) Missed a floor, gained a decent cape, and now I'm agonizing over what I currently need more of because I don't have enough experience for it to be obvious. More song? More melee? Some especially useful ability?

Hm, maybe for a competition asking for advice is a bad thing. Hard to remember unspoken rules sometimes.

I would not try killing Morgoth without constitution or grace potion(s).

On 12.2.2014 03:50 Nivim wrote:
Oh, I'm going to guess the grace potions would be for the sharpness bonus? I already have two sources of FA and a lot of will, so song of slowness wont be the problem.

If you want to use sharpness, you probably want to take woven themes as well? Personally I just would rage with slaying then grab a Sil and run. Good luck anyway.

I've never dared wear any equipment with hunger without a corresponding source of sustenance for fear of starving. I notice you are not even carrying food! Do you find enough lying around to keep the food clock under control?

(Updated dump.) I haven't kept it under control; there were two times since 700ft I was Weak (and yes, lots of u- eating), although, I don't wear the amulet all the time...and now I have a much better amulet and woven themes >=} .

Also, I don't understand why I would need rage or slaying to get a Sil, but maybe I should try them anyway?

On 12.2.2014 21:55 Psi wrote:
Rage and slaying will be for fighting rather than Sil-cutting I expect.
