V is +20 (effective +10),5d4. That means with +40 you're probably getting at least 2-3 crits, probably way more, so at least peak 5d11 (expected 30 damage against 6 damage shaved), in the long run you're doing about 72ish damage per round if you're fast with rapid fire... that seems OK to me :) Of course my math could be totally wrong lol

I think using venom arrows with flaming might be similar, as you'll add an expected 6 damage per attack and he'll defend by about 6 points more, but there is less chance of you breaking concentration if your arrow shoots through him.

My throne room plan was to walk straight in singing mastery, to give me a chance if Morgoth comes close, but likely Elbereth is cleaner. Maybe Mastery with minor theme Elbereth is the way to go.

I haven't seen if the throneroom layout has changed, but I'd usually lure Morgoth away from the main chamber to ensure a clear shot at him with an archer.
