First winner!

And killed Morgoth. And got all three Sils. There was a point where everything suddenly got much, much easier- turns out that Listen is amazing, and that a combination of Zone of Control, Polearm Mastery, Controlled Retreat is fun times. Adding Flanking, Opportunist, and Riposte just made it kind of ... blender-ish?

Congratulations! It actually took people on the forum a long time to work out how great Listen is.

One other thing that helped way, way more than I had expected was a relatively low investment in Stealth. With about five points, I went from the entire level waking up and coming to kill me to being able to take on individual rooms and letting patrols just walk past.

Thank you :)

The extra attacks were a ton of fun; I was considering trying again without Polearm Mastery so that I could adapt to whatever I found- maybe Subtlety and earlier Stealth with a light weapon? Now I'm going to need to figure it out for 1.2.
