My most current death was really quite brutal and unavoidable though. I went down a staircase into a no teleport vault at full health/buffs was knocked off of the stairs and killed with no possible escape.

This type of thing should never happen in my opinion, roguelikes are fun and keep me coming back, mainly because every death teaches you something, what to avoid, when to run, when to fight, taking calculated risks. its a constantly evolving experience. Each new character is the sum of all the ones before it.

Pointless unavoidable deaths are well pointless and add nothing to the game. Instead of learning from this it felt like a waste of time, which should not happen.

In the end though TomeNET is an incredibly complex and fun game with lots of varied gameplay and a great community, i would and do recommend it to anyone!!

And beyond the early game, you stand exactly zero chance if you do not read the whole thing many times and learn all the details.

The complexity of the game is beyond comparison with any game I have ever heard of, and the developers are still working on it.

My last character died on level one of the Barrow Downs. I literally went down a stair and an insanely OOD Gothmog one-shotted me. But that is just something you have to live with. The game is not fair, but it is very fun.
