No light killed me here : ( Or at least contributed to my demise. Which is a shame. Hmm, it seems that Stealth builds aren't as effective as they used to be a couple of versions back. I was finally able to get vanish to work ...on Trolls lol. There must have been another darkness causing monster nearby to because I was moving away from some darkness when I ran into the dark R that killed me. Lack of good lighting has been a problem for me...also didn't realize that cat assassins caused darkness...I tried to one shot one but it survived and attacked also a red R was in the room who I alas tried to one shot with the +11 arrow. But he survived too ! I found a few forges so I had plenty of arrows....it sucks when you are this close : ( But honestly with Stealth kinda underpowered I don't know how I would have gotten the exp need for song of sharpness....

Also keep in mind I never saw what I hit....granted I should have used my light staff....

Also I found no other lamps or flask of oil, helms of brilliance or anything else after 500 ft.

Vanish was changed *a lot*. You really need a Stealth like that, > 20, to make it effective. Closing the door and running away isn't enough anymore. :)

Hmm, I'll have to rethink this build then....maybe take vanish later on...on the other hand why even have it ?

Vanish adds a 10+ Stealth bonus to make monsters become "unwary" when you're out of their LOS. And the player(s) need very high Stealth (>> 20) to make Vanish do what it's supposed to do.

Without high Stealth, Vanish is actually useless towards high-level monsters in Sil 1.1+.

I used Vanish in the Throne Room, worked miracles as wheneven I went out of sight, everybody just forgot I was there, even Morgoth. I had a stealth of 23. So your 20 must be enough for most monsters you encounter.

What you really lack is Listen (or at least significant light).

Hmm, I don't know Hugo....I'll see wit this next character.
Yes, tap tap...lack of light killed me...but maybe if I used that staff I might have survived ?

I would have melted the corslet or another mithril item and take jeweller if I am that unlucky regarding light sources. +

I find it surprising that you run a stealthy char with -2 total modifiers from armour, while usually you can obtain a bonus via armor, cloaks and boots.

Taptap : I just used what I found and what I thought was best : )
