Been trying to run as a noblewoman with armour (0-0) entire game. Fun, but very difficult due to archers and I did not feel stealth/sneaking around was an option for this flavour.

However - is it Christmas already? - I found Catskin along with the first sword. Just had to don it. Except a long scary passage of blind fighting, it's been sooo easy compared to playing with zero protection. And I got to kill quite a few archers too. Revenge is mine!

with 0 protection it seems like you would really want dodging (and flanking) just to get your evasion as high as possible, no?

Or just go sneak mode... I've had sneaky guys that had essentially no protection before.

Yeah, always high evasion and Dodging, but against archery you need insane Evasion to be safe. And I didn't have to get Flanking this run, it comes for free with the Catskin.

The idea is to play a noble too "fine" for armour of any sort. To simplify I just stay at (0-0) protection the entire game. Also I will not choose stealth as my major skill and never assasination. But I do allow id-by-use for xp as long as it is automatic on wearing. I figure admiring fine craftmanship should be allowed. But the gameturn after it's on it goes off and I discard it. If it is cursed and I can't break the curse before moving a step, I count it as failure and the run is over. It goes without saying I have not yet won this way, nine out of ten times I die to archers. Shooting orcs and @'s are my best pals. NOT! And I have yet to meet my first cat assassin with zero armour.

Lol, a totally stupid death. I'll go back to running with protection (0-0) instead.

yeah cat assassins and anything dark / invisible are going to be really awful. glhf

The other problem with this is that I think you're going to have a really hard time balancing your resists, as you can't e.g. use a dwarf mask for fire resist, a pair of boots of free action, etc.

How about jeweller at start and / or song of Elbereth (works against archers), maybe with 1 5 4 4 starting stats.
