-> Deep one (clvl 27 - now)

Finally, a somewhat decent character since Hugo$oul 400 (and of course, Hugo$oul 394). Leveled up to clvl 28 quite fast. I had some close calls with that 'Treader of the dust' dude and Gachapin. At one point, Gachapin's breath knocked my HP down to 1 HP...so close!

FYI: I am reluctant to continue playing Hugo$oul 394 again because of its finds and the *very* useful Earthquake mutation. I'm putting Hugo$oul 394 on hiatus. Meanwhile, I'll move forward with Hugo$oul 424.

Completed several town quests at once and moved up to clvl 29. Found a Blade of Chaos (Nature) that does well over 400 damage against Animals! Awesome!

Solid run. Need to switch to a better body since Deep ones are capped at clvl 33. Hopefully, a Rock giant soon!

Switched to Sir Lancelot (who caps at clvl 35) so that I can move on. Took some jabs at the Arena monsters, but will try to await until I get a Rock giant's body.

Reached clvl 35 and had to make a switch...a Troll king. I still want a Rock giant!

Finally, a Rock giant! But now, my equipment completely sucks! To those who don't already know, possessed Rock giants in version 3.0+ CANNOT Shatter if weapons are wielded.

Chris, if you're reading this, WHY is my version 3.0+ weapon to-hit-accuracy so low? I don't think this is even close to my true weapon to-hit-accuracy... In spite of this, I'm still able to take down dlvl 40+ monsters with my weapons as usual. I had the same problem when I possessed Botei-Building and the Troll king...I don't know what's up. If I take off the weapon(s) and just use the Rock giant's Shatter attack, the to-hit accuracy appears correctly.

If you want the savefile, let me know.

Rock Giants have weapon skills like a Mauler (see https://code.google.com/p/chengband/wiki/AutoMaulerSpoilers). This means certain tiny weapons can't go higher than unskilled. (You didn't lose your dagger skill. It will come back if you switch to another form).

Currently at clvl 43 and still alive. As you may have noted, I had a truly frightening experience with one of the nastiest summoning traps of its kind...See screenshot. Otherwise, I'm trucking along nicely. My home inventory is starting to run out of space soon. *Me wonders what to toss..* When I switch bodies at clvl 45, I'll probably go for Nidhogg or one of the Elder giants. If a Hru shows up sooner, I'll go for it right away.

By the way, I accidentally activated the auto-pickup (while experiencing that one-of-a-kind nasty summoning trap). HOW do I turn it off?

At cllv 44 already. I'm running of time before clvl 45 and running out of room in the home inventory. It's funny how I managed to get so far on little speed... Base Speed = +2. I constantly had to rely on Speed potions and staves whenever possible. Once I run of temp sources, like right, I stop going to Angband/Arena, I use the Castle as my fighting ground, where my max dlvl is only 40, so the danger level won't be too high.

Since the last time, Ulik the Troll dropped a corpse for me, giving me another option for clvl 45.

The RNG has been acting strange lately with the lack of Rings of Speed...what's up with that.

Lastly, I want a Hru generated, please!!!

How do you deal with all the objects without using the auto picker?

>How do Rock giants and Hru rank?

Rock giants hit for 9d9 while Hrus hit for 10d11. Should be about 33% stronger.

Wow! Get some more speed pronto! You could assume a form with decent speed boost. Nidhogg is awesome. You really should give it a shot :)

How do these TWO rank compared to Wahha-Man the Golden? :)

For example:
[18] Ulik - 305 - means Ulik ranks at #18.

Without using the auto picker, I use the get command, 'g', to pick up items suited to my character.

I know! I usually want the form(s) that have the hardest hitting melee. I have to start overhauling my equipment for more speed soon.

This is it! After the demise of Hugo$oul 394 and Nefarious II, I decided to move on with Hugo$oul 424 and see what I could do. At first, I stayed in Castle 40 - 42 for a while. I had a little trouble with Jack of Shadows in Castle 42, but I did enough damage to take down that punk! At some point, I found a Staff of Speed...Just what I needed. I took another trip to the Arena dungeon and saw Hru on telepathy....Well, I crossed the path of a Demonic Quylthulg that summoned a Greater Balrog, a troublemaker. After trying to tough it out and suffering ~500 HP damage, I teleported away...to a position closer to the Hru. I hasted up, drew it close, gave space, and killed the Hru. And now, I'M THE HRU! Still going strong. Fun is starting to get real in Angband. I overhauled my equipment in favor of greater speed. I learned this the hard way when trying to fight The Yamata-no-Orochi and Hypnos (as Angband quester monster!!) at like only +4 Speed....bad move. It took me long enough to get my speed up. And then, it happened...I found The Gun 'Crimson' (+4 to speed) and the Kenshirou dropped a Ring of Speed (+11) in the Arena dungeon. Altogether, my Base Speed is +22. That said, I managed a good balance between decent speed (base speed is +22 now) and good damage (damage > 500) Not bad...

Since the last time, I killed a number of higher level uniques, including the *hated* Yamata-no-Orochi and Habu the Champion of Chaos. That Yamata-no-Orochi dude is *very* scary. I remember taking about 800+ unresisted disenchantment damage one time....crazy. As you'll notice, I have a handful of interesting corpses in my home inventory:

d) a Great Hell Wyrm Corpse
e) a Steel dragon Corpse

j) The Corpse of Brand, Mad Visionary of Amber
k) The Corpse of Lems the Cyborg
l) The Corpse of Kenshirou the Fist of the North Star {Wanted!k!k!k}

I have an extra Hru to spare, too!

In the meantime, I have to figure ways to clear out the home inventory and organize my equipment.

Made it to clvl 50 all in one piece and I'm still using that same Hru! I had *A LOT* fun fighting monsters in the Arena. I'm getting quite far. My deepest dive is now dlvl 76 (Arena). Unfortunately, I have one last !Life remaining at home. So, I might have to stop visiting the Arena and/or Angband until I get more !Life and MORE !*Healing*!! and instead check out the Castle and descend it all the way to the bottom.

I tried cleaning out the home but, of course, it filled up very fast. I have to prioritize.

Regarding weapons - The Glaive of Pain is my strongest weapon. With my current setup, I do about 650 - 700 with this Glaive. However, I still prefer the Hru's ability to shatter AND stun, which is why I go barehand.

I'm still wondering about the usefulness of the body of Lems the Cyborg. As a Hru, I'm doing good, actually. My deepest unique kill is a dlvl 75 monster!! I've been able to kill off Great Wyrms of Law/Balance with proper caution. So, not bad. But then again, I need more time before switching to something better like Nidhogg, Kenshirou, or Ulik.

Decided to test out Lems the Cyborg. There was only one way to find out!

Here are some interesting findings about Lems:
1. POISON IMMUNITY
2. Has BOTH the punch and kick to shatter attacks, which answered one of my previous questions.
3. Attacks *feel stronger than* than the Hru's version (or is it just me?)
4. Has NO weapon AND NO Shield slots, so you go bare-handed.
5. He is a little faster than the Hru (when Lems is possessed)
6. Free Action
7. See Invisible
8. Fear Resistance

Also this:
Every time I attack, it really seems like Lems is doing ~600 damage in one motion. Lems' punch + kick attacks are added together in one attack, right? In other words, 260 + 350 = ~610 occurs in one attack? In general, Lems' attacks *feel stronger than* that of the Hru.

If you're paying attention, you'll notice that Lems has POISON IMMUNITY. Wow, I never thought I would get this from possessing a body. I didn't know that POISON IMMUNITY even existed in PosChengband (or in its predecessors either). Awesome, nonetheless!

Just now, I encountered a Pattern vault and started walking the pattern on it in Angband 67. Uh, what happens when I finish walking the pattern or I fail to do so?

On 21.11.2013 07:34 Arjen wrote:
Lems is nice, but Kenshirou might be better.

Lems resistance: fire *poi* conf fear
Kenshi: acid fire cold elec poi

So you would swap 100% poi for 65% poi but also 65% acid (you need it vs acid breathing basterds) I consider Ken better in this subject.

Lems attacks: 2x 10d10 (100 damage) 2x 16d10 (160 damage)=260
Kenshi: 3x 15d15 (337,5) 1x 30d1 (30)=367,5

His plain damage is 30% higher and I think he stuns too. And to add, he has a retaliation aura, so even more damage if people feel the urge to hit you.

Speed

Lems 130
Kenshirou 123

So he is slower, but that's it. The actually difference isn't that great as they are both nerfed humanoid forms with crappy speed. Get 2 speed rings and you are fine.

Kenshirou actually has a shield slot (more stats/resists/ect) and as bonus; reflection.

For the shield slot, you might want to use the Mirror (also has esp) and switch the cloak for the dragon wings of Protection (get chaos res! you will die without it). Maybe change your gloves into those +3 speed ones with nexus res. This opens up your armor slot, maybe for Bilbo as I think that one has res Nether (get res nether! Those greater undead hurt with their nether balls crap). If I'm correct this might cover up some nasty resistance holes you are having.

In conclusion, I would use Kenshirou, immunities are nice but resistances are fine too (!resistance are your friend), get res chaos and nether.

About the Pattern, if that room is clear, walk it. Every step with hurt tho.

I'm going to have breakfast now.

I noticed that many monsters, especially uniques like Corwin, Gerard, Klingsor, etc, were just *easier* to kill. I'm VERY impressed with Kenshirou. The most difficult monster was Atlas, so far. And yes, I managed to kill him with adequate speed and THAT damage. Otherwise, I'm nearly unstoppable. This is *A LOT* fun!!!

I *really* have to move ALL 3.0.0 contents to a different directory before I botched this up again! I wished this NEVER happened.

I still have the original backup before 3.0.1 was released. This is the backup that include Possession of Lems and the start of the Pattern walk.... But I don't want to re-do the six hours I just did....Ugh. I will put this 3.0.0 backup in a safe place, though.

That said, I am moving on with my current game (not the backup). Right now, I'm moving very far in Angband and some monsters are just *extremely* hard to kill, namely Cyaegha and the Ultimate Magus. Monsters are starting to toughen up. What are my options after Kenshirou?
