I really admire people who have the patience for this sort of build :)

I thought that too before I tried it, but it's actually much faster both in terms of time and turns. I've taken every down stairs/shaft I've found and got there in around 20 minutes play time.

No idea what to do now though :D

Morgoth drops the crown when sleeping or injured, if you can beat 25 + distance (even if slowly) you will get him to sleep sooner or later with Song of Lorien. But to get a Sil from the crown you need a sharp weapon. Preferably Angrist, which always works when you manage to hit a non-moving object, otherwise something heavy and song of sharpness and maybe a few points in melee. You may need to hang around 900 ft for the moment to gather a little more xp.

You are using stairs often? Or do they crumble because you descend so fast?

What's the prot on the crown for the first sil? I thought it was 15d4 or something. With e.g. a great axe and !str, he could have 4d7... I don't know that sharpness would be a requirement, at that point. I don't think that you can miss the crown (i.e. i don't think it gets an evasion roll)

I could be totally wrong on all of this :)

Singing sharpness in the throne room with this dude would be a bit scary (unless woven, maybe?) because of how noisy it is.

On 14.11.2013 14:59 taptap wrote:
Yes, I had a dead singer due to sharpness noise and feeling overconfident. You can sing sharpness as minor theme with Lorien as main theme or combine with silence as minor theme, but hacking for half an hour in the middle of the throne room with a 7-28 weapon to defeat a many dice 15-60 armour (with average of 38) seems even riskier to me. All depends on stealth and song and other considerations, however.

4-28 i mean...

imo just find a 5d4 mattock :) or calris. I guess he also doesn't have a lot of !strength, and they really don't last that long...

Does hacking at the crown make noise?

Wow thanks for all the quick advice. What do you mean by " if you can beat 25 + distance" ?

When trying to get the Sil is it damage or accuracy that does the trick? Would it be possible to use a very light but accurate weapon and go for a critical hit? Should I be buffing my melee a lot?

Also does Morgoth shoot at you from a distance? Is it game over if he wakes up?

The stairs have crumbled once or twice. It takes a while to find the next stairs normally as I have to wait for monsters to get out of the way first so it isn't often a problem.

Accuracy works, but you probably won't get a lot of melee and subtlety and focus.

You have vanish so the game shouldn't be over even when noticed, if you manage to dive behind a corner, door or two with a little bit more stealth. If you tread carefully the worst that happens will hopefully be Morgoth waking up not Morgoth noticing you. I wish you good luck and please bring us some screenshots and the shinies.

Morgoth has will of 20, Lorien rolls against will + 5 + distance.

On 14.11.2013 16:32 debo wrote:
It's worth noting that his will goes up when the first sil comes out, so you may lose what little control you have over him when that happens :)

On 14.11.2013 16:40 TJS wrote:
Thanks for the tips, although I'm still a bit confused.

If my weapon doesn't do enough damage how can I ever get the Sil out? Am I relying on critical hits with heavy weapons and if so don't I need high melee skill for that? Or can I find a light weapon and do it that way?

By the way can you go up once you get to 1000ft or are you there until you get a Sil?

On 14.11.2013 20:26 taptap wrote:
If your weapon doesn't do enough damage you don't get the Sil out, it is that simple :) And one sort of sharpness (from a weapon or by the song) helps a lot in getting it out. You have a lot of time to gather a bit more experience before you go to the throne room.
