Dex drained by two in a single turn by a violet dragonfly that ambushed me :) I scummed around to get enough XP for mpa-lorekeeper hoping one of my myriad consumables would be ,restore or !dex, but no such luck. It's amazing how much difference 2 melee and 2 evasion (and 2 stealth!) can make to an Edain.......

Entering a level with -4 stealth next to an easterling spy is always interesting. Amidst the chaos, I saw a pair of thieves, one of which was holding an un-id'ed potion. I chased him all over the level before getting swarmed by 6 wargs, 6 trolls, orcs, and shadow worms. A billion turns later, I snuck down a hall to rest, and guess who I found???

Chased him all over the place again, including past some stairs (I'm not sure why he didn't take those), but finally caved his head in with a throwing axe. He barfed up a bunch of items... including that potion... which was indeed a !Dex!

The robe I've got is permanence, so I'm going to swap into that when I fight my next stat-drainer just to id it.

Hit a few really big floors in a row and now my turncount is toast. I also just got shafted 2 steps away from a downstairs I was about to take.... my death rate after getting shafted is pretty high, let's see if we can life through this one.

Some super frustrating moments but going ok. Othrod was near-death when a spider i previously maimed showed up to block the hallway as the orc lord ran for the stairs. Incredibly rage-inducing...

*That* is why we have stat drain ladies and gentlemen. A great story of using intelligence and perseverance to overcome a temporary setback.

It doesn't always work out this well and maybe it could be tweaked a bit (e.g. make potions of Stat turn up earlier), but this kind of narrative creation is why it is there.

I guess next time I should put a few points into stealth. The entire level attacked me, basically, and Othrod returned to avenge himself of the wounds I inflicted on him last time.

The real clincher was being surrounded by 3 sulrauko, though. There were right there when I descended, and there was nowhere to run as orcs and trolls and wargs and easterlings swarmed in from all the surrounding hallways. Had I known it would escalate so quickly, I would have run upstairs again. Too bad, I'd just found this nice glaive and was doing some good damage with it!

Sulraukar are being made less robust in the next version.
