Caramar found the Corslet of Gundor. I am a bit confused how to develop so took mostly melee and evasion, could have gone light weapon flanking as well (Gundor has amazingly low penalties), but I guess with blocking I will go heavy armour use and controlled retreat and maybe polearm mastery when an obviously good polearm comes up.

I'd take the spear of Nargothrond. Slaying on large die weapons is very strong.

I guess I'd drop the bastard sword and perhaps the [+2] cloak.

Yes, Controlled Retreat with Polearm Mastery is pretty good. You could think about throwing Knockback in there for the full effect.

Almost forgot about knockback.

Went through a lot of trouble with my light, was on my last torch and had to flee from shadow bats while I could destroy Duruin.

Went polearm mastery with the glaive. First time I get polearm mastery to work. Given how much I get out of throwing weapons, throwing mastery may have been a good idea too. But first for knockback.

I can't get knockback as I have no power / charge hmm. ZoC, concentration or poison resistance / hardiness instead?

I am not yet used to polearm mastery fighting. But it certainly works and certainly is powerful. Completely different playstyle than flanking or archer or singer builds I had lately. This was my deepest Edain so far.

There is a particular synergy between Edain and Polearms which is just that they don't get a benefit from Swords, Axes, or Bows, unlike everyone else.

Blocking works well with Polearm Mastery if against multiple opponents, or with Controlled Retreat, but it does require a one-handed Polearm. I'm not sure if it is worth it, especially as it is much easier to Knock Back with a two-hander. You should definitely have a go at this with Power and Knock Back, using a Glaive or Great-Spear. It can be pretty reasonable to forge your own Glaive at 100 ft, but maybe not with the Edain.

Haha, we are thinking so similar. Yes, I chose polearm with Edain because of that.

Glaive is difficulty 4 all by itself, which would require more grace or more than 800 investment into smithing and it has no benefits later in the game (mass producing throwing spears?), so I am inclined to go with a sword until I find a suitable polearm. I am not convinced that power > finesse for polearms - but you need to go power for knockback. I am not sure of the benefit of knockback when I have controlled retreat - saving space + more focused attacks?

Blocking was mainly for archers and against bad breath, but it is also the requirement for controlled retreat (I am not going to flank with a polearm which is the alternative) it was polearm mastery / controlled retreat that allowed me to kill Duruin and Nan and Gilim with an Edain (all opponents who are able to easily kill a Noldor played by me) - I am quite proud of that. While knockback has a similar effect without moving when it works, it doesn't work where you need it most - on the heavy enemies.

I will definitely take throwing mastery next time.

In my polearm mastery character, I was a Feanorian, so I made an artefact Glaive with Controlled Retreat on it, and gloves with Whirlwind Attack. This is a good way to skip prerequisites, but not so good for Edain.

You really should try the Knock Back approach. KB and Polearm Mastery were made for each other. It is really insane. Try the other approach too, but definitely try this one. It is one of the more extreme combinations in Sil, making you very deadly in one-on-one combat. There are details of how to use it tactically, but they are fun to discover on your own.

I forgot about the bonus to knockback for two-handedness then effective 7 strength would have been quite good.
