I still like vanish, but when you have Lorien it is almost redundant (not completely, but almost). Some lucky finds here. (Stealth +3 helped, Maglor and Angrist set me up for the throne room), but Lorien from start is powerful regardless. Want to get a little higher song and two grace points from perception and song, maybe song of freedom. My first greyelf on the ladder.

Nearly botched it in the end. (Forgot quickness against the ugly wolf - so despite thinking my song should be safe... he had a chance to hit me twice.)

(I took archery only when leaving the throne room.)

Admittedly Stealth+3 boots (I found them early), Cloak of Maglor, Angrist and my lovely perception rings were all hugely useful / lucky to find. Still excited - how could I miss on singing Lorien before? I even had the Shadow Cloak of Luthien several times without actually using the song.

Listen with close to 30 perception is hilarious as well.

Yes, Lorien is an Ability that is completely game-changing when your skill is high enough (like the old Vanish). Listen is pretty game-changing too.

Those perception rings are great. >30 perception is very rare.

Why did you need freedom when you had such high perception?

On 13.8.2013 13:41 taptap wrote:
I had no digger in general and I was scared of deathfall traps (maybe I could have disarmed them as well) - song was strong enough so that minor theme freedom (sung with silence) was enough. In particular I took it in a vault before I had archery with sleeping Ururaukos blocking two ways and a deathfall trap blocking the third way to a lovely chest.

I did without Vanish most of the time, but it was a mistake - at least for the ascent I should have taken it right after the throne room. Vanish + Lorien combine well, with Lorien only you can have some trouble once spotted as it works only in your proximity (with Morgoth rampaging - waking up everything else even where my song has no effect - and me without digger)! Vanish might also make it possible to wake up enemies from afar with a trumpet - something that doesn't work out well with Lorien only as they don't fall unaware after you woke them up (should help with treasure sitting enemies).

And it also was stylish to do without becoming a half-dwarf digging around :)

I occasionally fired arrows at enemies that were asleep in the wrong place. It didn't kill them, but allowed me to get them to sleep in more appropriate places. Throwing food at them would probably be more stylish for a proper pacifist though. Any of this might have been a bit scary in the middle of a vault though.

Awesome stuff!!

I'm pretty sure the only traps you cannot disarm are pits and (maybe) roosts.

Did listen with 30 perception basically give you ESP?? :)

On 13.8.2013 17:48 Scatha wrote:
debo: yes, roosts can't be disarmed. Also webs and false floors (all for flavour reasons).

That's cool. I can't help but see the +30 perception and calculate +15 focused attack, +15 poss. conc. bonus. And, +4 perception rings! I used to count on finding some +4 perception rings, but only in the versions before a lot of the new ego types were introduced. Since then, I haven't seen a one, much less two. Too bad you didn't find Melian's ring! Anyway, super-bad-ass-character.
