Learning how to Smith.

To start I immediately I put 9 points onto the Smithing tree, to give me 13 Smithing, and the remaining points on Melee/Evasion, leaving my Fighting ability a bit weak until the first forge. Starting out, I took Jeweller right away. Then at 100ft, I made 2 Rings of Accuracy <+2> and an Amulet of Blessed Realm <+0>. Realize that I needed 13 Smithing in order to make those Rings of Accuracy <+2>. Afterwards, I started taking down hoardes of monsters and put the points onto Melee and Evasion. Here at 300ft, I have 3 forges on the level: 2 uses, 3 uses, and 4 uses. I have just taken Armoursmith and Artifice.

My question, as you would guess: WHAT should I make now?

That's a classic start, well done.

As for what to make: Helm of lore master, no questions asked. I'd probably also make some sort of gloves with a smtihing bonus (they don't have to be artefact gloves) I think at your current skill you could make +2 gloves easy. A dwarf mask is not a bad idea for fire resist, and a lesser jewel of brightness could save you some pain too. I also like to make helms of brilliance.

Your problem on this floor is that to get a loremaster helm you will need at least 500xp, and many skill boosting items cost 100xp per point of skill bonus. You might have to grind out some basic items just to get the XP for 'discovering' them.

Note: I realize your character doesn't have 3 heads, I would keep the helms mentioned for swaps. Or just get the rings if you have jeweller, but I think the rings for fire/ice resist cost you a con point, whereas a dwarf mask is just basic equipment.

Check out the goods from the 3 forges I made at 300ft...especially, The Dwarf Mask of Jacques Smith and the Set of Gloves of Jacques Smith. Combining FireResist + Lore-Master and putting Artistry onto the Set of Gloves = smart move.

Moreover I already made a Mail Corslet [-2,2d4], Cloak [+2], and a Pair of Boots [+1,1d2].

Having several gloves with only an ability on them while playing Feanor is a bit of a waste imo. So now you can do artistry but you can't combine it with weaponsmith and you want gloves of smithing anyway later either +3 made or a good pair found but then you suddenly can't do artistry and weaponsmith anymore. And danger is probably the last thing I would put on my smithing kit. But personally I gave up on full-time smithing ... it just doesn't work out for me when I want a specialized build early on.

At least, the Dwarf Mask with the Lore-master ability was worth it. :)
