Sangband is great, you will have a ton of fun. First thing to do is train up wrestling or karate (for casters especially) this will get you through the early levels a lot easier. Also pick up any rocks you find and set an @v0 macro for throwing. These work great against the lower level creatures. Be careful of the air spirits though, hand to hand wont damage them. Finally if you get deeper and see the Queen of Air (forgot her name) run away, she has killed almost all of my promising guys :)
