My first success as a pure-pacifist character, with zero attacks through the whole game. The key for me was rushing Listen at the VERY beginning, then avoiding all monsters as I dove as quickly as possible. I should have made more use of Song of Lorien on my descent; I used it more on the way up, and was really impressed at how effective it is. I was briefly tempted to go for multiple Silmarils, but Angrist snapped at my first attempt on the second jewel, and woke Morgoth when it grazed him.

Wow great job! I knew what this character was going to be about as soon as I saw the name :)

Angrist and Maglor were hugely lucky finds for this build, especially considering they were the only artefacts you came across!

Thanks! Yes, they were both hugely fortunate finds. Maglor came EARLY, too... I think I still had 0 Song when I picked it up, and it was a while before I could take advantage of it. I was planning to buy Song of Sharpness when I reached the throne room, but I'm glad I waited until after I explored the side rooms and found that Angrist saved me the bother!

Nice going. We've not had many pacifists since the tweak to Vanish in 1.1.1, but I wondered if they were just out of fashion.

Obviously your stealth was very high by the end, but how effective did you find Vanish?

On 24.4.2013 18:40 Cirion wrote:
Vanish was moderately useful, but in retrospect I could have done without it. During the descent, my standard response to trouble was to Sprint for the nearest flight of stairs. On the way back up, Lorien could turn almost anyone unwary within a few turns. However, Vanish did seem to cause at least a few monsters to lose interest, and I'm pretty sure it helped me escape Morgoth at least once during the ascent.

I actually found Vanish much more useful on my stealth archer, since I could lure away an opponent from a larger group, make him unwary, then sneak back and kill him. It was still nice on Pax, but didn't feel like a key ability.
