Nice axes and shields keep popping up all the time. And I had intended to be dual wielding again! Strayed from the set pattern, lore master is so convenient and not that expensive in the long run. Also I got quite fond of my axes.

Getting seriously fun. Dual wielding AND nice axe. With sharpness even more so. Hardest hitting character for me ever. Narsil was a great find, eliminating the need for )Hadors, freeing up the off-hand

I'd normally take Lore Master too, however because I was descending quickly I wanted the points elsewhere. By the time I had an XP pool to spend, I had Id'd by use so much stuff that it wasn't worth it.

This build is looking great - as you say Narsil is a great find and sharpness makes a big difference at this depth.

Thanks. By using your notes for direction, for once I feel I may have a chance to take Morgoth down. Next session will be the throne room. Do you think it is doable?

I deviated a bit more, took rPoison to be able to use =dam+1 and took some additional song skills. Won't bother with whirlwind, raging insted. Also I fought so many large dragons that I felt I had to boost will a bit more than you did. Had some problems getting afraid a lot which was bothersome. Also I did not take Keen senses or Eye for detail, they are slightly compensated by a bit higher perception and I found several _freedom and a Belegost early.

Are you planning on taking (Strength)? If not, I'm a bit confused as to why you took Momentum? Right now it looks like all it's doing is giving you one more damage side on your bastard sword...

If you fully buff and sing slaying first mixed with sharpness, I think you stand a really good chance of wacking V with this guy. Just watch out if Glaurung comes to the party, as I think Narsil is currently your only source of fire resist?

I had Dagmor for rFear (it is a fantastic second hand weapon), so I just took Clarity for dragons. I didn't see a single mattock until the Belegost one I found right near the end, hence my need for Eye for Detail (and I carried a ?Blasting around for ages!).

You certainly don't need Whirlwind and I would actually favour ,Rage, but I hadn't taken Whirlwind before and it was more in character! Similarly I decided not to use Song of Slaying (took it for sharpness), so didn't need the other song skills.

It certainly looks like you are set to take V down. Presumably you are going to buff up, turn Rapid attack on, weave Slaying and Sharpness and just go raging near the entry stairs?

Your evasion doesn't look quite high enough to prevent V potentially getting some hits in, but if you can get your slaying bonus up high you should be able to take him down before he does too much damage. It is a shame you don't have any !Grace, but that won't stop you. Just keep an eye out for any of your buffs lapsing, it is far too easy to miss them in the carnage that will be going on!

All the best!

Yes, that's the plan. Slaying as the main song and Sharpness second, right?

Picked up a sword for the 2nd Silmaril, one !grace and a _freedom. I'm thinking maybe I should first use the _Treasures to see if there are more !'s in the western corridor before the fight. Or is this a bad idea with low stealth?

The Nogrod text is strange, probably a bug. It was found in a chest at the gates.

Nice work!!!

That 6500' thing has been around forever. Get with the program people :)

I still don't understand why you took Momentum instead of Strength, other than the "ooh! shiny" factor lol

Strength would have given you an extra damage side both on your rapid attack and on your offhand weapon. Although, I guess momentum definitely helps more when you're buffed! Ideally, I would have taken both, but more melee is always great too so I guess it's kind of a mixed bag. Clearly, it worked out for you :)

On "Slice" I took momentum so with my dual wielded 2lb weapons, I'd get maximum damage sides when buffed.

Alright that makes sense. I thought I was going bonkers :)

I'm still not sure how I feel about this whole momentum thing. It's neat to have another way to use light weapons instead of just chasing criticals, and you do have to put work into getting high Str and spend XP to work up to Momentum, so I guess it's fair :) Big weapons are still awesome.

On 28.3.2013 16:49 Thraalbeast wrote:
I wanted to stay as close as possible to Slice & Dice, but also felt happy with Momentum since the buffed fight was my prio #1. I never killed Morgoth before.
Making it back was a bonus. I did not know how much the curse would impact the ascent, but it felt just about right. One one hand you have aready defeated the really big bosses - so it should be a piece of cake - but on the other hand you have this curse from a very powerful source - so it makes sense that it is still interesting.
