Having another go at my monster-blind idea. I'll probably die to the post-ladder-curse. First time I've played much Sil in the last month.

I love the Kite Shield of the Swan, by the way. I've found it before, but the improved protection and +4 Will is great for my protection characters.

Oh wow, double stupid. I was in a very small room and activated an un'id staff. Of course, it was earthquakes. So, dumbass me goes to use my mattock. Oops, I dropped my shield of my Swan and now it's gone forever! FACEPALM. Oh well... now is as good a time as any to start 2handing!

I'm tempted to go ahead and throne-room it. I better mull on it.

Finally, a monster blind win under the belt. I came across a damn nasty balrog on the way up... he nearly killed me, even buffed! I could tell it was a balrog by the whip. Whew. This proves to me that for the most part, I'm an equal opportunity slayer of denizens. I made a save right before the exit, so I'm going to see if I can load the save in a regular version of Sil and see proper notes.

Wow. That is impressive.

I want equipment blindness next. I envisage you standing atop Morgoth's corpse clad only in Wrinkled Herbs of Visions.

Cool, thanks for the kind words.

Players seem to do lots of different things to keep roguelikes fun for them, and I guess I'm no different. While I take on stupid challenges, I typically want to stay true to my core playstyle, which is grindy in that I love to kill everything I see. I'm not concerned with turncount and certainly not efficiency, though I do like to bring in a regular roguelike in close to a million turns nowadays.

Instead of making the game exciting by learning to dive or becoming efficient, I'd rather the game tailor to my preference, by making grindy sensible. In this situation, perfect. For Sil-specific examples, I took on clarity and wore defiance for all of the late game simply because I wouldn't know when an ancient dragon was near. Confused and afraid doesn't cut it! I wouldn't do this for a regular game. Also, I built a character that had a healthy balance of lethality/evasion/protection for the whole game, as long as you don't count the time it took for me to find a new shield...

My ideal challenge, or variant, would be completely randomized monsters. Not knowing what anything could do would make me so very happy. Does it have a status-effect attack, a breath, a spell, a summon, does it resist xyz? --- I don't know and don't care... I just want to go kill it.
