A stress release character. Nothing but killing and more killing and more killing. Hurin x2 and Angrist with the ridiculous melee ramp up and sharpness is insane. Morgoth dropped in maybe 10 attack rounds.

Picked up some new pretty cool artifacts on the way up! I killed just about everybody, but I don't recall seeing Delmereth or Shelob. I'll have to go through my notes... maybe I bumped into them at some point.

How do you survive with only 13 Evasion?

I had lots of protection between 500-950. 11-36. When I hit the throne room it went lower from the shield loss, but the big increase in hit points covered the loss. I might be mis-remembering, but I'm pretty sure I've had characters with 9 in evasion pull off the victory. You eventually hit a threshhold with protection where you don't get hurt much, especially if you have a lot of will to help with crit. resistance. Also, when I was buffed up nothing lived long enough to hurt me w/melee. Ancient red dragons posed the biggest threat with fire damage. This kit isn't what I had in the throne room or most of the game, so it's a bit wonky.

What helps the most for Morgoth's earthquakes? More protection?

I'm not sure! It's when I fall in his damned pits that I have the hardest time. I tried standing on a glyph of warding once but that doesn't help with the earthquakes. I'm pretty sure protection must help.

There needs to be a chart drawn up by somebody who is good at math that projects the optimum evasion to protection ratios. Like, a 9 evasion requires 10-38 (like my Weirdo character had), while a 35 evasion requires 2-5 protection, or something like that, with varying breakpoints in-between. And, with that, the experience point cost effectiveness of those approaches. I find a nine in evasion is pretty cheap on the evasion front, so I can buy other things, but of course you take big hits on melee ability from the heavy stuff usually. But, how costly does evasion get to make the lower penalties worth it? I don't know this stuff. I just know that protection is much easier for me to understand. Like with my other character that had the Finrod choice... perhaps 10-33 was better than 10-30 at the cost of 2 evasion points. Meh. I dunno. If I were to break down and actually try out some high evasion characters it might be that I could draw that graph myself, but I've yet to take the high evasion plunge.

Wow. I gawped at your 3d15 and just read up on what Momentum does. You must have done an unashamed happy dance when that was announced.

Yes, Half and Scatha said, "let there be DAMAGE", and I was most happy. Most of the time I don't see any benefit from momentum since my characters have been in the 5lb weapon range, but having the upper bound essentially removed on str sides is soooo nice for the fights I buff up for.

Escaping pits is an evasion skill check, so yes it will cause problems for characters like this. It is a bit odd to use evasion as an active skill like this, but it works pretty well as it is modified down by heavy armour and upwards by dex, which makes sense for climbing out of a pit.

Also, protection does indeed help with earthquake damage.
