Beren could marry her if he brought back a Silmaril, you saw your
chance: you'd just have to go and get two.

I really like this character - never made it this far before. I confess I made a copy of it just so I could dive down and see the throne room since I had never seen it. Didn't last long since I had no idea what I was doing.

Once I got to the throne room I couldn't figure out a workable plan. I lasted a while but death was inevitable.

Well, nice going getting that far! What happened when you got to the bottom? Did you get near Morgoth? You were in the throne room for quite a long time.

Sure I saw morgoth and even put him to sleep to get the crown off. I had enough stealth to wander around pretty safely but I didn't have any way to get the silmaril off the crown. I guess you need a great weapon to do that. I've been cheating a bit after the loss but even after improving the characters melee but I still can't do it. Maybe song of sharpness?

Getting the first Silmaril out shouldn't be super-hard, but might need a few attempts. You're making a regular attack against something with no evasion and 15d4 protection. Lots of criticals can get you there, or a big weapon and a potion of Strength. A sharp weapon or Song of Sharpness will make it easy. Keep an eye on the combat rolls window to see what's going on mechanically.

The second Silmaril gets quite a bit harder, and it's definitely tricky to manage without some source of sharpness.
