Beren could marry her if he brought back a Silmaril, you saw your
chance: you'd just have to go and get two.

A couple of attempts later (I thought better of uploading early deaths to sword spiders to the ladder, and have since started being a lot more cautious with them), and I have one who seems to have got off the ground. Elbereth and Opportunist are letting me kill quite a lot.

My helm and gloves got damaged by a horror. :( I shouldn't even have tried to engage it; forgot it wouldn't respect Elbereth.

Priorities now are:
- Song of Mastery
- Charge (to deal with serpents! Just met my first one)
- A bit more Will?

Of course I can't catch clouded, but this is pretty fun to play at the moment, and on the off-chance that I don't die horribly in the near future I may be able to manage a fairly quick finish.

Is sprinting really helping you that much? I find when the entire dungeon knows you're there, it just helps be get into bad situations faster :)

Nice corslet!!

Sprinting probably isn't as helpful as for stealthy characters, but it lets me:
- disengage safely from normal speed monsters (when I'm too low on health to want to start singing Elbereth with them next to me)
- have a chance of catching fleeing fast monsters, to let Opportunist work its magic

And yes, the corslet is lovely. My third armour worn; I'd replaced my initial leather with a regular corslet (and wasn't sure if that was correct), and then found this.

Continuing down, and continuing to do well. The challenge now is working out when I think I've got enough to dive to the Throne Room.

The hammer, rings and gloves give me a great damage output for a Strength 1 character. Picking up Charge was pretty crucial for letting me deal with the first serpents, but it doesn't feel so necessary now -- this much damage, and Mastery to help against the less intelligent enemies is setting me up nicely.

I'm hoping to get by without Song of Sharpness, but this could be awkward for the second Silmaril, so I may need to reconsider. May depend what I find of weapons. Woven Themes is also really tempting.

Wow you have some damage output! I've never seen a hammer like that. I guess it's has +1 sides because it's fine, +1 because of hador's house (?) and then +2 for using two-hands? And then your rings of damage and power on top, pretty crazy!

"I'll just kill this nameless thing for the experience", I thought. That's definitely an embarrassing way to go.

I was just looking around for a sharpness weapon, but I think I might have been able to manage the throne room.

clouded: exactly right about the hammer.

Oops! I notice now in the death shot that I was singing Elbereth, not Mastery ...

I'm a bit frustrated, because I was looking forward to playing the escape. Oh well.

That's a heck of a voice you have there. I was looking to see where your xp had gone when I got to the 'Song 26' line!
