My Beastman has been lucky with mutations - very rare I don't get something outright bad when I have this many. I'm sure the next few will be terrible now. At the moment though the Dazzle power is very handy and the extra AC is nice too.

Yup! The damage is the amount of damage your last melee attack did and the amount won't fall off with distance like normal ball attacks do, so it is indeed quite useful.
