This guy was an experiment of just how ridiculous a protection score you can get. I am happy to report that at one point I was at about 8-33 protection and wasn't getting scratched by anyone except Gilim, the Giant.
I no longer have such a ridiculous protection score because of lucky finds.
The three points of smithing are so I could take armorsmithing and make the heaviest armor possible, but that has since been replaced.

Update. Found some more nice stuff and got a bit of XP in the bank. I still have time to loiter around for a bit, but not too much. What should I do with the staff of revelations, I suppose I'll use it on 1000 and then use it to help the ascent.
What strategy would you have for morgoth? I'm clearly going to be using angrist for the Silmaril, but how much should I kill in the throne room?
What should I invest in now?

Good idea with revelations. If you are planning on nabbing a silmaril and running, try to buy sprinting. It's a life saver for us non-stealthy players on the run from angry Valar with heavy hammers. I usually buy it at the very end, or curse myself for not having enough xp in the bank to get it.

I'm unsure if you've seen the throne room before, but be prepared to be swarmed if you haven't. It's reassuring to know you've got a way to kill lots of monsters quickly.

Exchange places is great for surviving too... it's not necessary, but it's a life saver. I would recommend it for first time throne room players, certainly.

Anyway, my 2 cents... your character looks great! You have so much covered already.

Thanks, I suppose I will spend XP on getting exchange places, but should I go for Vanish too? By my calculations, it would cost either 2400 XP or a lot more, depending on whether I take cruel blow or not. I am seriously considering cruel blow, because Nargil does all of its damage from criticals. Otherwise, I have a story you might like. It involves me, my stuff, Tevildo, the guy that follows Tevildo around, and one of those tunelling rauko's. They had managed to each be next to me, so I:
turn 1: Quaff pot of CON
turn 2: Quaff pot of STR
turn 3: Wield belegost
turn 4: Eat herb of rage
turn 5: Swing like crazy
by turn 8 I had already killed everyone and was mopping up troll guards.
Taking sprinting should be both cheap and worth it, probably should take the crowd fighting skill too, if what you say is true.

Just found Ungoliant's lair, with Shelob and all. You can be sure I fled.

I don't know anything about vanish... I've never had it. To be honest, I know zilcho about daggers, too! It seems like rapid attack and Angrist would be better to me, if you pumped your melee up to +25 with it, that is. Since your getting most of your damage from criticals, I would try to juggle out the shield, get subtlety and rapid attack, work back in the protection in the form of a 2d6 armor, cover fire with a dwarf mask. But, that's all real easy to type and maybe not so easy to do and find! :) I like your mattock story... Mattocks, I understand.

Dead. I forgot to take a dump. So did my character, who got gorged and died with 5 pots of miruvor, 2 of healing and an herb. I also mistyped, throwing me off the crown, preventing me from grabbing and running.

I knew you'd like the mattock story. Later I found a Vampiric great axe, which is ludicrous with huge STR, knockback, and all the trimmings.

Great work Philip, and sorry to hear about the ignominious end. I have also died in the throne room from gorging. It is pretty common actually... It is good that you know what to expect now though. It is very tough for non-stealth characters, and is worth thinking about what part of the level to fight in, and how to leave an escape etc. Anyway, great work getting all the way to Morgoth's throne!

Gorging while in the throne room is *really* bad.
