I'll (barely) reclaim first place on the House of Hador ladder. Fairly straight-up combatant. I'd begun dipping into Song for Elbereth (and perhaps later Sharpness), and I had Opportunist, en route to picking up Rapid Attack to go with a big axe or polearm.

Haha why on earth did you pick a fight with a giant? :D

True sight helm was a great find at your depth!

I guess it seemed like a good idea at the time? :)

I'd killed a couple already. Didn't seem that high risk, since I could run for the stairs if it got dodgy ... I forgot about the rocks.

The helm was less good than it might have been, since it replaced the [-2, 1d4] helm I got from Gorgol. And it was positively bad compared to what I found with the other human I played this evening: the Sword of Saithnar! (Stealth-less House of Beor ... very stupid death to a Shadow Bat, which I decided to fight after I realised it wasn't a Shadow Spider, and paid no attention to my diminishing health.)
