Another stealthy archer type. I'm not sure if I'm going to pick up Song of Sharpness. I might though since getting Sils out is way too hard. I consider this another viable build, now lets see if I can at least get one Sil ...

You have the Dagger of Nargil, a source of sharpness. Perhaps, you could get Finesse & Sublety to increase chance of criticals, especially with Nargil.

If you get Sublety, just remember to remove your Shield before damaging the Crown.

Nothing really new to report...still scamming for a high damage sharpness weapon...I have Nargil, but I'm not 100% it will do the job.

Other options to increase Damage, if lacking high damage sharpness weapons:

1) Wearing the Ring of Damage (+1)

and/or

2) Getting the STR point from the Melee tree (which requires Power + Stun or Knock Back. I would get Stun. Knock back would wake up some enemies, if I recall correctly).

or

3) If you're lucky, you might find a Ring of Strength (+1).

That's all I can think of, right now. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I wonder if half or Scatha have any other ideas...

I have a ring of Str and Dam+1. But wouldn't I get more criticals if I wore my +2 accuracy rings?

On 28.3.2012 02:24 HugoTheGreat2011 wrote:
You're right! You would have greater chance of criticals with the +2 accuracy rings! What I mentioned earlier would apply to base damage, without criticals. Nevermind...

I forgot another thing. Your minimum depth is still 900ft. Go back and forth, while the opportunity lasts...

Oh Hugo I have been scumming a lot : ) I'm hoping that something good comes up before I have to make the jump.

Six attempts so far, but I have been able to get away and hide each time I have been spotted. I actually Knocked the Crown of with a +3 arrow : ) So now the crown is just waiting for me to get to it : )

On 28.3.2012 07:17 Fendell Orcbane wrote:
Success! Although I felt that this character was very weak melee wise compared to my other winners, subduing Delmerith was the game changer. I was doing at least 40 points of damage per attack and sometime 60 and once 80!
The Throne room was crazy...I shot the crown off of Morgoth's head and then lead him and his minions on a merry chase. But they couldn't find me : ) After about 10+ tries I got a Sil out and I tried for a second one but after 29+ tries I made my escape after assassinating Ungoliant with three well placed arrows : )
I also took out the Jaws of thrust with three shots : ) He didn't even have a chance to run. Afterwards I killed the troll guard and walked away...slowly.

On 28.3.2012 11:40 Fendell Orcbane wrote:
I should add that although the melee was weak, I abused the hell out of a staff of warding and just used my bow to take orcs, wargs and werewolves out while no one could get into melee range, unless I charged them : )

On 28.3.2012 12:26 half wrote:
I wouldn't call your melee weak -- it is 30 in this final dump, and you have 19 points in it which is much more than in any other skill. Indeed, I'd say you are a melee specialist with some strong interests in archery, stealth and will. My recent archer had 0 points in melee, which is quite doable.

I've changed the protection for the crown down to 15d4 for the first Silmaril for 1.0.3.

On 28.3.2012 14:24 HugoTheGreat2011 wrote:
Congrats, again! Nicely patented Stealth character! What weapon(s) did you use to get the Sil out each time?

On 28.3.2012 22:24 Fendell Orcbane wrote:
Half: I should say that my melee was weak until Delmereth. I also call it weak because I didn't have Riposte or Stun. Its fun to have Morgoth both stunned and confused at the same time! Honestly I might have gotten more out of archery if I put more points into it. I could see where you would feel like this character was all about Melee from the points allotted towards it...BUT I used archery in most major encounters. Morgoth(knocked the crown off ),Ungoliant,Boldog(used a staff of warding too), Orcobal(same tactic),Gilim, Dagorhir and just about every other major unique. One weird thing was that Ancient serpents were absorbing blows like crazy...until I got Delmerith I really couldn't kill them all that well. If it weren't for vanish I would have been done for.

To Hugo: I used Nargil dagger of the North. It took around ten attempts. I tried for another but after 29 attempts I thought I was pushing my luck and so I ran.

That makes sense, and good work with the staff of warding. My feeling is that people don't take anywhere near enough advantage of them. They are a very good escape item (a category which is rare in Sil) and can also be used with archery to kill uniques.
